    About Mosaic blind test

The online Mosaic test was created using a method similar to the CAD test. A larger square is mosaically divided into many small squares. The task is to recognize a smaller square in the larger square. Each small square pulses and changes its brightness. If the answer is correct, the next square will appear elsewhere and its color will gradually blend into the background color of the large square. It contains 20 difficulty levels of red-green, purple-green, and purple-red. The tritan version of the Mosaic Test consists of 20 purple-red levels gradually approximates background color of the large square.

    Color Assessment & Diagnosis Test

The subject’s task is to report the direction of motion of a colored square on a gray square background with dynamic luminance contrast noise. This new developed color vision test has shown in a broad study to be very accurate in identifying type and severity of one’s color blindness.

    CAD color blind test

The subject’s color vision severity is measured in Standard Normal units (SN units). If your result would show a red-green threshold of 2 SN units this would mean, that you need a twice as strong color signal compared to a average standard CAD observer. This threshold can be quit different for deuteranomalous and protanomalous observers.

    Sensitivity of the Mosaic test

    Mozaik color blind test sensitivity

The test consists of 3 tasks (red-green color series for protan / deutan, purple-blue series for protan, purple-green series for deutan color blindness). It contains 20 difficulty levels. 80% (4 errors) for red-green, 85% (3 errors) for purple-blue, and 85% (3 errors) for purple-green are the criteria to pass the test. The test has a sensitivity of 95.83%, a specificity of 96.77%, a positive predictive value of 98.57%, and a negative predictive value of 88.24%. Based on our measurements, the efficiency of the online test is close to the efficiency of the original CAD test (nearly 100% sensitivity and specificity). The protan vs deutan diagnosis obtained by the test was 97.67% consistent. It can be stated that the test has a high efficiency, accurately detects color blindness, and provides a reliable diagnosis of its type and severity.

Sensitivity of the Tritan Mosaic test

85% (3 errors) is the criteria to pass the test. The test has a sensitivity of 88.89%, a specificity of 100%, a positive predictivity of 100%, and a negative predictivity of 89.29%. The test detects tritan type of color blindness with adequate efficiency.
